Punta del Este is one of the main seaside towns
of Uruguay and maybe the most known throughout the world. Punta del
Este owes its fame and reputation to the beauty of its beaches, the
wide range of facilities it offers, as well as the important amount
of restaurants, pubs, discos, and other entertainment related spots
tourists can enjoy.
Punta del Este Uruguay: some of its past
The Uruguayan town of Punta del Este has gone
from an almost deserted area to a fully populated city in the last
two centuries. At beginnings of the XIX century, the area of Punta
del Este was mainly seen as a fishing spot, and was undiscovered as
a tourism area yet. To the date, it has become one of the most attractive
seaside cities of not only Uruguay, but the entire southern area of
South American region as well, receiving more than 250,000 visitors
per year.
Uruguay Punta del Este: a peninsula
Punta del Este is a region shaped as a peninsula
which enters into the Atlantic Ocean. This way, this area has an important
extension of beaches which can be easily accessed from almost any
point of the town. Punta del Este is a peninsula which consists on
a long and narrow extension of land surrounded by ocean waters, and
providing a great environment for all type of sea related activities
and sports, from surfing, sailing and jet skiing, to swimming or simply
sunbathing.

Punta del Este, Uruguay: many things to do
Visitors who approach Punta del Este during
summer time, and many times during winter as well, hardly ever can
feel bored. During summer time, this city becomes completely full
of activity and movement the twenty four hours of the day, every day.
During day light, visitors can go to any of its beaches, practice
sports, go to restaurants, go shopping, or even meet the big hand
in the sand, a very peculiar sculpture which is part of Punta del
Este’s iconic elements.

Once the sun goes down, visitors also have a
very broad range of options. During summer nights, there is an amazing
amount of discos open all night long in this city, some of them even
until 8 am in the morning. Besides this, Punta del Este’s night also
offers other activities, such as going to a casino, meeting with friends
at a pub, or simply walking around enjoying a landscape characterized
by city lights mixed with a beautiful natural environment.
